Tropical Music Productions began providing Steel Drum and tropical music to the New York area in 1986. Now in its 25th year (!) it has achieved the "first-call-in-NYC" status for entertainment at many Fortune 500 corporate events, and for the most selective of private engagements. From Manhattan to Morocco - with tv appearances, recording sessions and educational programs in between - Tropical Music Productions is unparalleled. The beautiful natural, wooden sound of Marimba Man’s marimba complements the steel drum, adding a beach-y vibe to the band to make it even more unique. Caribbean repertoire includes Calypso, Soca, Reggae and other styles, with or without vocals. As you can see and hear at this site, American dance music is also well-represented in the songlist. Instrumentation is flexible, from a small instrumental ensemble up to ten pieces with several lead vocalists and large-scale sound/lighting.

Tropical Music Productions was founded by Percussionist/Composer/ Educator Arthur Lipner, who still performs with the band on occasion. A recording artist of international renown, the addition of his marimba adds a uniquely energetic and tropical flavor to the group.
